A Message From Our CEO: Injustice

June 1, 2020

We cannot start this week without acknowledging and addressing the recent events that have unfolded across America.

The deaths of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, and countless others, whose names and faces have now entered our homes, shines a light on a history of injustice in America that we must all face. But, these events are only the most recent examples of injustice that has existed for many years. It is sad and hard to believe that in the year 2020 – nearly 60 years after the Civil Rights Act of 1964 – we are still met with racial discrimination across the nation.

Our values at Change Healthcare, especially “Include All,” represent our position on bigotry, hatred, and inequality in every form – we do not tolerate it. When we see shocking actions that bring injustice into sharp focus, inaction is impossible. While we can’t solve injustice in our society solely through actions within our company, we are committed to keeping our work environment a safe and welcoming place for all of our team members.

Many of you are outraged, angry, or apprehensive. I am, too. I want you to know that we hear you. We hear the sadness in your voices, the impatience in addressing injustice, and we feel your heartbreak. At Change Healthcare, we stand by our value of “Include All,” and we live by our Leadership DNA, especially “Courage” and “Embracing Differences.”

These phrases are not just taglines for us – this is who we are. We embrace differences and foster an inclusive environment because it is the right thing to do – and it makes business sense. We are extremely proud to have people from all different backgrounds, and support them, as part of our Change Healthcare family.

While we cannot control what happens outside of our company, we can have the courage to speak up, show up, listen, and learn. Together, we will continue to inspire and empower ourselves to take action against inequality and hate. Now, more than ever, we need to rely on one another, as well as our Business Resource Groups (BRGs), to continue the dialogues about the challenges in our society, but also the opportunity to change our future. We can help shape a better world – a world where everyone feels valued for their contribution and has a seat at the table.

I am grateful for each of you, and your unique and special gifts, including your commitment beyond our company to improve the world we live in and the fight against injustice. Take care of yourselves, your families, your friends, your communities – and each other.

Sincerely yours,

Neil de Crescenzo Signature
